Blog the Vote!
That’s what we’ll be doing this season as students compete for the ultimate Western glory: becoming president of the University Students’ Council. In years past, the Gazette’s used this time of year to analyze and criticize the litany of candidates who wanted to sit atop the USC.
What’s on the line? A 12-month job and a hefty salary, for starters. Running a multi-million dollar organization, so to speak. Having responsibility for 26,500 students and their interests. Being subject to relentless Gazette scrutiny. Sounds lovely.
The competition, for what it is, can be pretty stiff. Last year, six candidates clamoured for attention. USC insiders say only a few candidates are running this year, which probably means a slightly less exciting election period. But darnitall, we’ll try to make something out of it.
